There's a letter going around various pagan groups from Anthony Romero of the ACLU, demanding that we hold President Bush to his inauguration promise to defend the constitution. He feels that we've lost our right to privacy under the Bush administration.

Well, if you've contributed to the ACLU, you have:

The American Civil Liberties Union is using sophisticated technology to collect a wide variety of information about its members and donors in a fund-raising effort that has ignited a bitter debate over its leaders' commitment to privacy rights.

And more here:

In a Dec. 28 letter, Catherine S. Travis, a lawyer who sits on the board of the A.C.L.U. affiliate in Oregon, recommended that the board consider suspending or removing Mr. Meyers and Ms. Kaminer, saying that they had violated their fiduciary responsibilities by talking to reporters about matters she called confidential.

"Appropriate corrective action must be taken now to avoid further incidents that can only impede the organization's ability to meet the unprecedented challenges to civil liberties we face at this critical juncture," Ms. Travis wrote.

Ms. Travis said in a telephone interview that she had not intended for her letter to be circulated beyond the board and therefore declined to comment on it. "I find this disturbing, this focus on internal governance issues when the organization is doing such important work in the protection of our civil liberties at a crucial junction in our history," she said. "I'd like to see the media looking at that."

So it's "disturbing" to have someone looking into your practices, yet that's what the Arrogant Cheating Liars Union does.

In Minnesota, pigs are being born with human blood in their veins.

In Nevada, there are sheep whose livers and hearts are largely human.

In California, mice peer from their cages with human brain cells firing inside their skulls.

The most radical experiment, still not conducted, would be to inject human stem cells into an animal embryo and then transfer that chimeric embryo into an animal's womb. Scientists suspect the proliferating human cells would spread throughout the animal embryo as it matured into a fetus and integrate themselves into every organ.

But few scientists are eager to do that experiment. The risk, they say, is that some human cells will find their way to the developing testes or ovaries, where they might grow into human sperm and eggs. If two such chimeras — say, mice — were to mate, a human embryo might form, trapped in a mouse.

Not everyone agrees that this would be a terrible result.

"What would be so dreadful?" asked Ann McLaren, a renowned developmental biologist at the University of Cambridge in England. After all, she said, no human embryo could develop successfully in a mouse womb. It would simply die, she told the academy. No harm done.

No harm done? These are living beings we're talking about here, folks. I realize that most of the Pagan community is pro-choice when it comes to abortion, and they'll see nothing wrong with her statement since she's talking about a human baby, but I can guarantee they'll get all bent out of shape because animals are involved. They'd probably get a high-tech medical team together to do a mouse cesarean to save the life of the mouse. The human? Disposable.

LOS ANGELES - A California teacher has been barred by his school from giving students documents from American history that refer to God — including the Declaration of Independence.
I don't understand what the obsession is these days with stomping out all references to religion in our society. Yes, we have people of different faiths, and those with no faith, but why does this mean we have to re-write our history? This nation was founded, in part, by people who were seeking freedom from religious oppression in their native countries. That's why we have freedom OF religion - you're free to worship, or not, in any way you choose. If you don't want to, you don't HAVE to. That's the key - there is no official state religion. That's all that the constitution provides for. NO official state religion. Got it? Good.

I am not Christian. Does this mean I should feel my 'rights' are being violated if I hear Chrismas carols? If I see the red kettles of the Salvation Army? If my town puts up a Chrismas display or a Menorah? If I feel strongly enough that I want my religion represented, I could ask that the town have a Solstice display. In fact, my town does have one, right next to the creche & the menorah. But, it was erected as a protest by a local atheist - should I then be insulted that one of the symbols of my faith has been used by someone who professes to have none? Please. I drive through town, and admire the displays, and feel glad that I live in a place where people believe differently, yet respect each others' points of view.

By eliminating all references to religion, we're not bringing people together, but driving us farther apart. Liberals are big on "embracing diversity", but what they've done through organizations such as the ACLU is try to eliminate that diversity & make everyone the same. How are kids going to grow up to respect other peoples beliefs & customs, if they're not exposed to them? Tolerance, another word the left likes to throw around, only applies to the issues THEY want to push on society.

The last time a society outlawed religion was in the Soviet Union. How long before it's outlawed here?

EDIT: Thanks to boy for Religion kept out of Thanksgiving stories.

Religion kept out of Thanksgiving stories
By LAUREL LUNDSTROM, Capital News Service

Maryland public school students are free to thank anyone they want while learning about the 17th century celebration of Thanksgiving - as long as it's not God.

And that is how it should be, administrators say.

Young students across the state read stories about the Pilgrims and Native Americans, simulate Mayflower voyages, hold mock feasts and learn about the famous meal that temporarily allied two very different groups.

But what teachers don't mention when they describe the feast is that the Pilgrims not only thanked the Native Americans for their peaceful three-day indulgence, but repeatedly thanked God.

Thanksgiving is usually taught as a part of social studies and emphasizes cultural immersion.

"The Pilgrim Story is read in Spanish and English," said Alfreda Adams, principal at Mills-Parole Elementary School in Annapolis, where 70 Hispanic students attend. "We make sure that we celebrate all cultures."

School administrators statewide agree, saying religion never coincides with how they teach Thanksgiving to students.

WTF?!? They "make sure they celebrate all cultures"? Just because they teach in English and Spanish? HUH? Can Alfreda Adams spell C-L-U-E-L-E-S-S?

I was having a discussion recently with a very left-wing on-line acquaintance recently, and we went back and forth on the whole "the election was a fraud & the truth will come out soon" stuff. I really thought that this would die down oh, say a week after the election was over. But there are some really, really, sick people out there who absolutely refuse to accept the results of the election, who believe that Bush & Co. rigged thousands and thousands of voting machines. And, did it so well, that almost a month after the election, they're still looking for proof.

But now, their tin-foil hats must be leaking, because they've come up with the most asinine theories I've ever heard with regard to this plane crash. (I say "most asinine theories I've ever heard", but I'm sure tomorrow they'll come up with something even more ridiculous & therefore make this one seem normal by comparison).

Articles like this one "EPA Will Use Poor Kids As Guinea Pigs In New Study On Pesticides" come from the Chicken-Little school of journalism. Then I read the comments, and it just makes me sick.

The article itself is inaccurate, but very few posters actually go to the EPA website to check the facts. Instead, they accept what the article says as fact, then proceed to work themselves into a fine frenzy.

These are the same people who swallow hook, line and sinker every word that Michael Moore and his cronies in the MSM spew forth. And that's what they count on - just report anything at all, and there will be lots of people who are willing to believe it.

There's an "investigation" (translation: witch-hunt) into the shooting of a "wounded insurgent" (translation: terrorist who was pretending to be dead so he could live to kill Marines another day). The MSM wants us to be appalled and outraged that a Marine would do this. I'd be appalled if the Marine hadn't done it - the lives of everyone in that room were on the line & he did what had to be done to secure their safety.
Of course, the lunatic fringe (the MSM) is pissing & moaning about this, but I don't see them reporting stuff like this: Religion of peace, my ass. Why? Because stuff like this makes the Islamists look bad, and we wouldn't want to give the impression that they're evil or anything.

Why is it that you can't just accept the fact that your guy lost the election? Newsflash! This happens every four years people! One person wins, the other loses. I know it's against every liberal ideal, but yes, there has to be a loser. There's no award for trying hard, no promotion given so your feelings won't be hurt. YOU LOST. Get over it. Attributing the loss to "isolated and uninformed rural voters"? Check the county-by-county map of the election results - every state, even the blue ones, had lots of votes for President Bush.

"I, for one, found that I simply could not live in Rochester, Minn., where I was before I moved to New York City in 1980. I could not find enough people there I could bear to talk to."

I'm sure your former neighbors in Minnesota are much happier now.

"Those of us who fled those more rural areas for our own intellectual comfort also deprived our rural countrymen and women of hearing our discordant opinions. "

Deprived? I'm sure they're thrilled you're gone.

Any bets on when these papers report this as fact?

I've got a relative living in the UK for the past few years - she's in the awkward position of trying to explain the election results to people who get their news from these papers. With coverage like this, she's having a rough time right now.

And, last but not least, this makes me want to slap them silly. And take away their pagan secret-decoder rings. Magical election tampering??? Asses. Those "voices" you hear? It's the echo in your empty heads.

Bush on 11/2/2004.

I figured I'd get that out of the way early on.

I'm not a bible-thumper. I'm not a Christian. I'm reasonably intelligent, well-educated, and can (believe it or not) make up my own mind regarding the issues that are important to me. I know that there are quite a few people who can't understand this, but 9/11/01 had a profound effect on me. I believe the people behind this atrocity did it because they hate us, not because of our policies in the Middle East, but simply because we exist. Because we are a symbol of hope to people who are oppressed by regimes where the threat of torture and death are lived with each and every day.

What I can't understand is the absolute hatred the left has for this country, from Michael Moore right on down to the person quoted in this article. Evil dictator? Hello? Yeah, there was one, hiding in a hole in the ground, but we found him. And his sons. And we'll continue until the job is done.

What really pisses me off is the hysteria now within the pagan community with the re-election (I just love saying that!) of the President. Cries of "the burning times will come again!" resound. Oh, please. Are you that shallow/stupid/self-centered that you can't see that for millions in Afghanistan and Iraq the burning times were already happening? Don't you care that men, women and children were being slaughtered? Did you read about the mass graves? Did you see the pictures? Did you read the stories of those who were tortured in prison? And no, I don't think that what happened at Abu-Ghraib was torture. Humiliating, yes. Wrong, yes. Punishable? Yes. Atrocity? No.

Why is the Pagan community more concerned with what happened in 17th century Salem & Europe than with what's happened in the last century?
